Circular Design: “Wa! Doitsu”

The pavilion’s theme, Mutually shaping a circular world,” reflects a commitment to a regenerative system that minimizes waste and maximizes resource utilization. The name Wa! Doitsu translates to Wow! Germany,” capturing the enthusiasm behind this groundbreaking project.

Architectural Features

  • Circularity: The pavilion’s architecture and spatial design utilize seven round wooden
  •  structural elements, immediately conveying the theme of circularity. It unites nature and technology, blending the biosphere with the human-made technosphere to create an experiential visit.
  • Cylindrical Structures: Two cylindrical structures house the exhibition and hospitality areas, merging seamlessly into a freely accessible green space. This integration of nature and built environments exemplifies the concept of closed material cycles.

Sustainability Goals

  • Prototype for Repurposing: The German Pavilion serves as a prototype for repurposing and reusing structures. Crafted entirely from reusable materials, it showcases key elements such as indoor climate design and innovative recycled materials.
  • Circular Future: By combining architecture, landscape, and exhibition programs, the pavilion highlights a circular future where architecture and urban development harmonize with nature.

Expo 2025 Osaka
